Now we have the basic information about the Mooladhara or Root Chakra, now let’s see the second chakra Swadhisthana or Sacral Chakra.

Sacral Chakra meaning
The original name of Sacral Chakra is Svadhisthan Chakra. It is made up of Sanskrit words ‘Swa’ (Soul) and ‘Adhisthana’ (resides / abode), in short, we can say that Svadhisthan means where Soul resides. It is also known as Hara Chakra ( “sea of energy”) according to the Taoists.
Sacral Chakra Location
Sacral Chakra’s location is above the pubic bone and below the navel.
Appearance
Swadhisthan / Sacral Chakra has six vermilion colored petals, inside this lotus a white crescent moon, represents the water element. The six petals are said to represent modes of consciousness or Vrittis.
Swadhisthan Chakra is associated with unconscious emotions, creativity, passion and pleasure, relationships. It is connected with the sense of taste (the tongue) and with reproduction (the genitals). Potential karmas or Sanskaras lie dormant in Mooladhar Chakra whereas Swadhisthan / Sacral Chakra where these Sanskaras find expression.
Beej mantra for Swadhisthan / Sacral Chakra
The beej mantra for Swadhisthan Chakra is Vam, chanting this one-syllable mantra can profoundly affect the working of this chakra. Every Chakra has its own beej mantra and owns specific vibration. As sound is also a vibration, chanting this beej mantra cleanses and clears any energy blockages.
Sacral Chakra imbalance symptoms
The balance of each chakra is much needed to have a healthy Chakra System, as an imbalance in any one chakra leads to another. So let’s see how to balance Swadhisthan / Sacral Chakra.
The corresponding body parts of Swadhisthan chakra are lower back, hips, kidneys, large intestine, bodily fluids, bladder and reproductive organs, so physical symptoms show up as soon as there is an imbalance in this chakra, different problems relating to these areas start to surface.
Overactive Swadhisthan / Sacral chakra reveal as overly dramatic, overly ambitious, aggressive, arrogant, a manipulative person with negative shades such as jealousy, envy, hatred, whereas underactive Sacral chakra shows up as low self-esteem, depressed, an anti-social person with traits like unenthusiastic about life, indecisiveness, fear of change.
Balancing Sacral Chakra
Yog Sadhana: Daily practice of Bhujangasan (Cobra pose), Buddha konasana,(butterfly pose), Natrajasana, Balasana, Trikonasana can be very useful for Swadhisthan/ Sacral Chakra.
beej mantra: The chanting of Vam, beej mantra of this chakra is very useful for the balancing of this chakra.
Sound therapy: The D keynote, frequency 288 Hz.
Color therapy: The color of Sacral Chakra is primarily Orange, so using Orange in your day to day life will have positive results on this Chakra. Using more Orange color in your wardrobe, jewelry, stationery, are some of the examples.
Nourishment: Eating orange fruits like papaya, peach, oranges, carrots, pumpkins, and nuts- Almond, walnut, peanuts, as well as honey is very useful in treating this Chakra.
Crystals: Orange gemstones like Carnelian, citrine, Orange tourmaline are very effective while dealing with this chakra. Moonstone can also be used to balance Sacral Chakra, as the element of this chakra is water.
Aromatherapy: Orange Oil represents innocence and fertility. Bergamot can be used for relaxation, it helps to disperse stagnant energy, releasing stress. Rosewood and Neroli can be used as a natural tranquilizer. Rose, Jasmine, and Hibiscus also give very good results.
